The Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is a federal credential issued by the TSA under the Maritime Transportation Security Act. To hold one, a worker must pass a security threat assessment and background check. The credential grants unescorted access to secure areas of the nation's ports, maritime facilities, and vessels.
